☾ ♬ D R A G O N B O R N ♬ ☾

With heaven in her eyes, she looked to the moon;
there in the light of the night, under a million shining stars,
she found her spirit;
strength of a bear, power of the wolf, fierce like the dragon;
as untameable as the sea, as peaceful as the forest,
with a heart of passion, she became as unaging as time.

Aloha friends,

Please, make yourself comfortable and read on, I have a very different kind of post for you tonight. The last I posted was of my grandad's passing. Family illness and stress surround me, work is heavier than ever before and I find myself lost in a thousand memories, thoughts and places tonight.

I would like to make a point here too, that I am not overly religious, the theme of this post is purely personal, of which I've decided to share with my readers, as from all corners of the globe, I find some of my readers to be my most trusted friends.

These posts I'm calling 'Dragonborn' (a love for Skyrim inspired the name for these posts) are personal features that if I were to keep a diary would go in there, but they'll not help anyone written in a hidden notebook. I hope by sharing them, that maybe they may provide some light or inspiration for someone else. They are my personal journey through life, my way of dealing with the things that trouble me.

  So I decided to write.

Music is beautiful, if you've come from my music blog than you'll know that it's been my biggest passion for almost all of my life. I find in life, music and walking help me most, when I need to focus my mind, align my thoughts. I've come to realise a specific genre of music, comforts and guides my thoughts in these times, so tonight I write something of a particularly personal nature.

I guess to generalise, the music in which I speak of would be categorised under soundtrack/world, in Celtic, Adventure, Fantasy. It got me thinking though, how one type of music could bring me so much peace and harmony while others find a completely different genre of music to have that same effect for them.

Before I get on with the post, I should explain, how i've ended up here, writing, tonight. It was my grandad's funeral last week, Thursday. Almost a week ago, yet I'm finding it harder to move on now, than before the funeral. I find myself feeling immensly tearful and emotional at random times, with no prior explanation. I realised after some thought, that it's the permanance of death that makes me sad. It's not a fear, not as such. I don't fear where the dead go, when you see the peace in their face, I can't imagine them to be suffering, nor believe it. It's just the realisation that, that person is in fact gone.

When my grandma passed away, I was a lot younger. I was taken to the chapel of rest to see her, I was perhaps a little too young to understand death. I knew the concept but could have had no understanding of the emotion and overwhelming feelings that come with it.
I kissed her forehead and it was the coldest thing i'd ever and have to this day ever felt. With that ice, something burned into my mind that day that even now I find hard to think about. She was gone. Her whole spirit was gone, she was no longer on whatever planet, plane or spiritual world I belonged to.
When I travelled back home for my grandads funeral, I was surprised by how many people he had had an effect on, of how much his life was celebrated. I realised also, I have more of him in me than I had previously known.
From the experience of grandma, I couldn't see grandad. I didn't want to feel him that cold, I needed to remember him full of life and laughing, which I do. Yet as the service came to a close and the coffin was picked up, I couldn't help but feel a desperate scream inside of myself. As they lowered him into his place of rest, I felt as though I wanted to scream, to shatter the beautiful peace in the summer sky and green field that day. How could he be gone, he was so strong. He was old and had lived a long and loving life. It's not just him, it's all people, just how can we, anyone be so gone.
I don't know what I believe of ghosts and such, certainly not on a level that I'm willing to write about here, but one thing I feel is that he is still with his family in all of us, but when I think of him lying there, I am filled with so much sadness, it sends me to tears and a total feeling of loss.

While I am finding ways to come to terms with and find strength to overcome those feelings, I throw myself into my thoughts. Into the bands I work with, into my projects. Into anything that makes me feel full of life, anything that deters from fleeting moments of desperation.

As I listen to various compositions of Celtic music and epic themes, I begin to realise that something in that music, draws my attention and makes me feel focused and calm. I turn it up a little louder and close my eyes. It reminds me of home, it reminds me of the books I was read, of the music I was played. Of the stories I was told and it reminds me of my family and my roots.

I realise it reminds me of the man who gave my entire family life, it reminds me of Grandad. In that I find an overwhelming feeling of joy. I realise that my family, my heritage, these give me strength. The fantasy and adventure themes give me an escape to focus on something that might just contain enough magic to stop me feeling so low.

With that, I'm not ashamed to be a bit of a hippy, a bit wild, a bit away with the fairies, because you know what, dragons, unicorns, castles, rolling hills, celtic tales, ancient histories, civilisations, music, my heritage and astrology provide me with that magic, the magic you need to break through your darkest rainclouds and provide you with even just a moment of solace and a breath of air.

As I sat in that church, the sun streaming through the stained-glass windows, I felt a lump in my throat as I sat in this building that was hundreds of years old and minus a few modern gadgets had remained as such since it was built. Something beautiful, powerful and that I didn't understand filled my mind. I let out a few tears and a cough, the only way I could clear my throat enough to keep breathing. I don't know what it is about churches that make me feel like that, but I couldn't help imagining it being built, the people building it, the people who have sat in it, throughout the Victorian times, the wars and now me. All those faces and souls gone, disappeared from our world and known only to time, history and from those who have memory of them.

I don't know what the future holds for me, I don't know what will become of KG or the people she knows and loves. All I can do is focus my time and energy on being and sharing as much as I can with the people I love, I work with and I meet.

I'll use the inspiration I find, I'll hold the memories close. I'll believe in all the magic and mystery I can to create as much as I can in the time I have. I'll fight with passion and give my energy to everything I do.

For now I have all the weapons I need, I will fight.

♬ ☾ L I G H T // O F // M Y // L I F E ☾ ♬

Aloha,

On Tuesday 24 June 2014 at 1:10pm, Walter Whitfield first of his name passed away. Born in 1921 in England; Walter lived a full life accomplishing many things and raising a large family who have all gone on to raise children of their own. He was more than a man who had accomplished much, he was my grandad.
Grandad a few years back you made me a family tree, I've kept that document and added to it in recent times. You told me that getting old was a part of life and rather than fear death, I should look to what I can achieve in life.

So today as I stare out across the sunlit sky, with not a cloud to be seen. The trees and flowers in full bloom, the sea sparkling the bluest silver i've seen it in a long time, I have these words to say.
'Time borrowed is now being repayed, a debt we will all pay. Time is precious and will pass regardless of our actions. You lived a full life, achieving much and giving your family everything you had. We live our lives because you gave our parents life. There are enough of us to count as a small colony and though we cover all corners of the map, we are a tightly bound family that puts love and family first'.

When I was about seven, I was terrified of a ghost a kid at school had told me about. I wouldn't go to sleep. You picked me up in your arms and told me that I needed to forget all of that, that no ghost was going to come for me. I shut my eyes as tightly as I could and when I woke up it was morning. To that day when things have scared me, I have shut my eyes and thought of that memory. I've opened my eyes and told myself that I would not be finished by this thing that now frightened me.

You told me that I was my mothers daughter and that made you proud; you said I was creative, that I had a good strong head on my shoulders. You shed a tear and said that I should look out for her because though she's strong in spirit, she needs her family. That's never been more true today and I am now a woman, I cry when I am sad but I also support those close to me when they too are suffering.

To my aunties, uncles, cousins, those I see from time to time and those I've not yet had the pleasure of meeting. You're all in my thoughts. I love each and everyone of you, though some of you I may not know as well as others. I am proud of all the things you achieve, I love seeing your photos and your updates on my social media feed. I remember when we would run around village halls playing games and finding mischief at every corner. It feels like three lifetimes ago now, but never forgotten.

Though I feel extremely sad today, I feel blessed to have a large family that even though we don't all see each other we still care. For that reason grandad, I know you'd tell me not to mourn a life lost, but to celebrate the life that was given. Beneath your strong and wise exterior was a softer nature and I am inspired and in respect of both men. I am proud of all you brought to this world. I only hope that one day my journey will have been as long and well lived as yours.

So I look now to the future, people tend to forget that we live on a ball of rock hurtling a million miles a minute through our solar system. That ancient civilisations have risen and fallen in time. We get caught up in our shoe box scenario's but today I am aware of the universe and all the stars and the people that cover this planet. I hope wherever you are now, looking over us that you are at peace. Rest In Peace Grandad. Sleep well.

♬ ☾ COSMIC DUST ☾ ♬

Sorry it's been quite a while since I last posted here, but to be honest I think I was waiting until I was ready with a direction for my posts. LITTLEBEARWOLF is my hub for all things MUSIC. This is my place to share my other passions with you, my adventures as such. The thing was though, I was sort of having a passion block; odd right? Considering the work I do, I LOVE. I just couldn't muster the enthusiasm to portray anything worthwhile. I was taught growing up, 'If you have nothing interesting or helpful to say, say nothing at all'.

I've been thinking a lot recently, about 'HAPPINESS' which for such a joyous word seems to be appearing more and more of a tabboo subject. I think this is partly because we are taught from a young age that we must be successful and have dreams and hopes and wealth to be happy. If another celebrity rehab stint isn't enough to convince you otherwise, I don't know what will. I've learnt from living away from home, in my most depressed chapter, where I felt like a prisoner in my own life, living off hand me down tins of food and the kindness of those around me; that it's in our most basic stages we can achieve the truest kind of happiness.

Although I am eternally greatful to no longer be in that situation in that chapter, what it taught me, will stay with me forever. I am stronger than I think. I can be happy with very little and above all else it is how you live your life, not what you do with it, that in the end will bring you happiness.

Each of us are different, no one looks exactly the same, feels the same or has all the same loves. I think life is not so much about finding yourself but creating yourself. It isn't until your mid to late twenties that you even sort of come into your own skin. If I take anything from my peers, is that enjoy the journey of growing older, of living your life. I feel at my best right now in my life. I've been better off, I've been more innocent but I am happy now. When I look in the mirror, I see me and that's something no-one can take away from me.

Life is so unbelievably fragile, it's over in the blink of an eye. Recently I've read mottos 'DON'T TAKE LIFE TOO SERIOUSLY, IT'S NOT AS THOUGH YOU'LL MAKE IT OUT ALIVE'. I particularly like this one. 'YOU'RE A SPEC OF COSMIC DUST TO THE UNIVERSE, WHATEVER YOU DO IS GOING TO HAVE NO LASTING EFFECT ON THE UNIVERSE SO DON'T STRESS IT'. Alright, so they have the potential to be the biggest murderers of motivation, 'If I'm so inconsequential, what's the point'. At the same time, they're true. Maybe you'll think theres no point and do nothing. PERHAPS you'll think, 'okay, overall it's going to have no lasting effect but F*** it, I'm going to give my all anyway'. When it's over, you will say 'I DID IT' rather than I wish I had done it.

Don't harm others, don't bring hatred to the world. I see many people attacking others instead of facing their own demons. Your demons will never go while you manifest them, so if something is troubling you, seek it out, remove it from your life. Bringing others pain, will get you nowhere in the long run.

I try not to think too hard on what life is all about, I try not to think too hard on what comes after. I prefer to wake up and face my day. Just remember that everything inside your little box is nothing compared to the box the Earth sits in and in turn the box the universe sits in. Time and life will carry on, sometimes you'll feel like you really want to go no further. I have those days and I can't stand them. I urge you to keep going, keep breathing. I can't tell you why, but all I can say is i'm glad I haven't stopped because life is beautiful, sometimes you just have to look a little harder to see it.

There will be BAD days. There will be days that you never want to live again. There will also be AMAZING days, days you will think of and reminisce on for all time to come. Take what you will from life and remember only you can be you. While you may have no lasting effect on the universe, you have a lasting effect on the people you meet. On the people you share time with.
Happiness isn't what you do with your life. It's how you live your life.

 John Lennon once said

“When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life.”

So whatever you're doing today, whoever you're with or not with. Remember it's not going to be a great day because of what you do, it's going to be a great day because of how you use your time.

Life is a constant balancing act of family, friends, career infused with all your human emotions. Of course it's going to be a trainwreck from time to time, allow yourself to make mistakes.
A 1000 years ago, we weren't worried whether we had the latest trends down, whether we had a 3 or 6 bedroom house in a good neighbourhood. We were worried about taking shelter from storms, finding enough food to survive. While society has evolved. Humans still need those basic things. You don't need the latest designer shoes, you do need clean water. We're very lucky that we live in a society where those things are provided on tap. It's nice to have designer treats. You don't NEED them.
We need very little to survive, it seems we've been mis-taught we need A LOT to really live. This here my little corner of the web, is my place to share my little adventures and life with you. I live in a 21st century country where I am lucky to be able to make my own choices and do what motivates me. I'm not looking for mansions and money. I'm just here trying to make it through each of my given days. I'd say i'm a hippy trying to make it in a world of robots and skyscrapers. I'd rather live in a hobbit-house and eat bread and cheese, grow my own vegetables and sleep under the stars. Maybe one day i'll find a way to do both. Maybe I won't want those things at all this time next year. Either way, they aren't a today problem.
I hope you'll pop back and enjoy my posts. Please feel free to share your thoughts on my posts by leaving comments.

Aloha!

The world seems to be in such a rush to be grown up these days, I wonder what happened to innocence?  Though really this has been the case all through the time of humanity. In the old days people were born as mini adults, taking classes in etiquette and learning the trades of their fathers. Throughout the fifties, kids took music and started to rebel against the adults, but to be their own versions of adults. In modern day society, I see girls and boys running round with beats headphones, hollister jackets and the latest nike's.

Times change and people move with it, I understand that. Why are we so intent on the pursuit of happiness and believe that happiness is success, wealth, achieving. Is it not just enough to be happy in the pursuit of dreams. I read a very interesting article from a journal that said, 'happiness is not something you achieve, it's a way of life'. I realise that it doesn't matter how you get there it's how you feel about getting there.

I personally don't crave marriage, I'd like to get married one day, if and when the time is right, the person is right but it isn't the wedding I crave. I'm told a wedding is the happiest day of any girls life. I can understand to an extent why, the romance and celebration of love. It just seems to me that if your wedding is your lifes highlight, then you have not experienced all that life has to offer. It shouldn't last for just one day, it should be the adventure you share in the years to follow that day, that are your happiest.

I don't want for a mortgage or to own a property. Again, perhaps one day ten years from now I might, but as it stands right now, it is not a priority. I don't know what I want from tomorrow let alone fifty years from now. I don't know if I'll have a job that allows me to pay for that mortgage ten years from now, let alone fifty.

I don't have plans to build a family, maybe a few years from now, I might. I certainly right now do not count it as a future plan. It doesn't make me a bad person, it just means, I'm able to stand up and say that right now, my dreams are my own, it would be unfair to a child who would look to me for everything to bring them into the world because I thought it's what I should be doing.

All of those things, they don't make me irresponsible. They don't make me incapable. I'm sure if I was married, with a house and a family I would be incredibly happy. It's just not the route i've chosen currently. I'll never say never, but I also won't allow societies views of success to form my direction and choices.

I don't judge anyone who has those things either, I have friends getting married who I am incredibly happy for. I wish them a lifetime of happiness, they are lucky to be in that chapter where they have decided the time is right to spend the rest of their lives together. I have friends with houses that are cosy, warm, a place to call their own. I admire them for that, it must be awesome to wake up in a room that you own, that if you decided to paint bright orange, no one could stop you! I have friends with the most beautiful and talented children i've ever been blessed to meet, who may drive their parents crazy from time to time but mean everything to them at the same time. I am mostly proud of them for living their lives and doing what they want with their lives. I am simply doing the same, just my tale is different to theirs, the same as theirs are different to the next person.

That is why right now, moving back to my parents was the best choice I ever made. It meant I wasn't forced into a situation that may have been wrong in the long run. They allowed me to come home, to  think on everything that I was doing and wished to be doing. My mum has been ill as some of you will know, it is a very personal thing to our family and I don't wish to share it publicly. Moving home means I can be with her whenever I need, it means I can help look after her.
My parents have given me the opportunity to do things right for me. I owe them everything for that.
'I'd rather you were happy and home and then sturggling and alone'. I'll never forget that.

I have lived away from home, I have lived in different cities and seen new places. I have studied and worked. I have discovered the things I am passionate about and give my whole self too. Moving home has given me the opportunity to be who I want to be. In my own time.
We only live once in this life, this body. So be who you want to be, do the things that make you happy, spend time with the people who are precious to you. Don't judge others on their choices, don't cause sadness or suffering. Understand this, it's not what you have, what you do or what you are, its how you live, how you do what you do and how you are as a person, how you live your days.
We all are capable of happiness, we all have the opportunity to be happy everyday, the posessions and things we build up around us are not going to bring you that happiness. In the end, we are but ants to the universe and that is why we must make the most of the very limited time we are given.

However you are spending your Tuesday, revel in it. The clouds are thick and grey here in Hampshire today, but there is a silver lining filled with the suns warmth behind them. So stop and pause everynow and then to appreciate the beauty of everything. Somedays we would only want to live once if not at all, others we would live over and over again. Make the most of the ones that you want to live over and over, because at the end of things, you don't want to be left with only the ones you wished you hadn't seen.

Oceans are wide, the sky is home to a billion and more stars, dinosaurs once ruled the planet, men have walked on the moon, Muddy Waters sang the blues, what are you going to do with your today?

Aloha!

Today has been busy but in a kind of relaxed way. Lots of ideas buzzing through my head though! I thought i'd try Valerian tea to help me sleep later. So for those of you that have paid a visit here, thank you. The posts have been somewhat vague, a sort of half introduction to myself, but my music blog is my passion and has been taking my time.
However I decided to start this and I mean to go on, it's just a sort of learning curve finding my voice and filling the space with that voice!
I've made my passion my work and through that i've had to make choices about what worked and didn't work. I've also done this in my personal life too as I was carrying the thoughts of others on my shoulders constantly. This again has been a learning curve. For the first time in my life, I've actually stood up for myself and made choices about those I feel are not my actual friends or really supportive at all.
Focusing my energy on that, had started to bring my general mood down, I figured I needed a way to forget all of that, to forget the negativity that will become history to me rather than my future. The best way to do that I found, was by focusing on the people who make me happy and inspire me on a daily basis!
That for me, includes these incredible bloggers, who continue to inspire me on a daily basis!

I read these blogs on a weekly basis, they inspire me to make the most of my time and enjoy what I have to share with people. All of these girls have made their mark on the blogging world and I hope they will continue to keep blogging well into the future too.

There are hundreds of thousands of blogs on the internet and it takes time, love and attention to create and keep one running. LITTLEBEARWOLF music blog is my passion. LITTLEBEARWOLFCOVE is everything else. Together they take up most of my time, but right now, that's exactly how I wish to be spending my time. So please do pop back to both, daily, weekly, whenever you like.

I have an exciting music feature to post on LBW tonight, so be sure to check it out!

♬ ☾W H A T // K G // D I D ☾ ♬

Aloha!

Hope everyone has been enjoying their week. I haven't managed to post here for a few days as it's been manic at the recording studio and then I had my birthday yesterday.
Hence my post tonight, I was thinking yesterday how much things had changed for me in just a year since starting littlebearwolf. That got me thinking about a lot of things that have happened recently.

We are all children really, even those who are in their 70s and 80s tell me that they still feel the same as they did when they were younger, they still fear what they don't know. They come to accept what they don't know and make the most of what they do know. I've come to understand recently just how fragile our lives are. Mostly though, how you can't change the past, you can't predict the future. You only have the here and now to play with.
I thought for a while on this, the energy and time we have is precious. Everyday people are living their lives, it's all we really can do. That time and energy cannot be replaced. It is the individuals choice on how they use theirs.
With that I have had a sort of personal and professional life cull. I've had to consider how I can use my energy to make the most of the time I've been given. I'm human and I make mistakes. I try my best to amend the mistakes I've made and learn from them.
I understand that in life nothing stays the same forever. Our relationships, friendships, ideals, passions all grow with us and change as we do. I recently found out that a couple of people I had considered my closest friends (even despite gaps in time spent together, I was still proud of them and encouraging of their ambitions, I thought that feeling was mutual) weren't. In fact it emerged a couple of days after I had initially spoken with them on the matter, from a couple of other people just how transparent and false our 'friendship' had been. From the things I was told had been shared about me from 'friends' I was disgusted that they treat their friends in such a way. My trusted friends pointed out, if that's how they are, they probably don't have many real friends at all, that's why partly they get down from time to time. With that and some helpful advice from my trusted friends, I made my decision to no longer burden myself with the stress of false people.
Since what I call my epiphany, though it was really the turning point for my independent life to start, I have been able to let go of pain and hurt in a calm and gentle manner. I can forgive, I will forget, I won't be treated as a servant, to only fulfill their job when I am needed. I am free and that means that even those closest to me, will have to understand there are boundaries you do not cross, the same as I do, with them.
I take a lot of inspiration from various people and cultures. I don't compare myself to any of them though, especially those I am close too. Once you start to look at other people and compare yourself to them, you instantly change the dynamic of that relationship and it rarely survives. I know because I've been there before.
'Sometimes holding on makes you stronger, sometimes it's letting go'.
I will always be KG. Not all those who wander, are lost.

I am just following my dreams and living from day to day, taking in all the small things. I have been super busy of late with a whole bunch of music based work, which I cannot wait to share with everyone on littlebearwolf! As well as some other projects that are now starting to take shape. I had an epic birthday celebrating with my close friends, my family. I will be posting pictures from the day I turned 26 right here on littlebearwolfcove shortly! So please do pop back.

T H E // D A Y // O F F

Aloha!

I have been so busy this week. I started the week under a bit of a grey cloud. I made the decision to end a few friendships that I feel have been a bit of a negative energy in my life for some time. After making that choice, I moved quickly on as I realised without focusing on negative energy just how much good I actually had in my life to be focusing on!

With that I have been crazy busy, getting my business off the ground, continuing with my music blogging adventure, redesigning and ordering business cards, planning lessons, meetings, writing and booking gigs into my calendar.

All of a sudden it seems it's May! My birthdays coming up pretty quickly, which is very exciting. At 24 I made a lof of changes and started my whole life in a new direction, by 25 I was a few months in and I have spent the last year building that direction to be my career, my life and everything imbetween!

Part of the reason I am blogging here, about my adventures is because how much the music blog has expanded now.
So yes, I am excited to be 26, because it's the next step in my adventure and I am quite excited with where everything is heading!

The next few days are more business meetings, blogs, covering and shooting at gigs as well as meeting old friends and starting early birthday celebrations. Yesterday (Wed 30th April) was the year anniversary from the gig I put on with a friend. I spent it with my best friend in the entire world.

We took the dogs for a walk in the morning to the beach, it was awesome running after them and watching them splash about in the ocean. We then took the dogs home and dropped them off, before heading back out for a walk along the beach.

The weather had brightened up again, the sun was so warm and everything looked as though it was coming alive with colour! We headed to the beach cafe for refreshment. The lemon cake slice we shared was heavenly. Slight zest and light fluffy mix, it was delightful!
On the way back, we took a detour and went to sit on the jetty close to the flat. It was so lovely sitting in the sunshine, looking over the creek. We even saw some little fishes swimming about, then some even tinier ones!

We then headed out and bought lunch. I've been vegetarian now for about six months. It was a struggle at first, though now I am finding it more suitable for my body than any previous nutrition plans. We made vegetarian chilli on jacket potatoes, it was so delicious!

So full by that point, we watched a blues documentary. I love music documentaries. It was fascinating and featured some of my favourite musicians.
We had a second cheeky cake that day, custard donuts! Yummy!

We then sat and played guitar, I am a little bit obsessed with sliding. I love the sound it makes. It was great fun to learn how to do it! I can do 'Amazing Grace', just about!
It was at this point I decided after a big day of fun things I was ready to embrace bed and make perfect little zeds!

I slept so well and have managed to be quite productive today, though there's still quite a lot to do in the next two days, I can't wait for Sunday for relaxing and gigging!

Have a wonderful end to the week and I will be back here soon with more adventures and updates!
